Glasgow’s best new places to eat in 2017

Find out what’s on our food radar as we round up three of Glasgow’s best new places to eat this year.

Bilson Eleven

Glasgow’s Dennistoun as a dining destination? With the opening of Bilson Eleven (pictured above), we’d have to say yes. It’s the first chef-patron venture from Nick Rietz, (formerly Two Fat Ladies and Michelin-starred Hof van Cleve in Belgium), who, along with wife, Liz, plate up a modern Scottish menu in a beautiful townhouse setting. Eastern promise if ever there was.

Bilson Eleven, 10 Annfield Pl, Glasgow, G31 2XQ, Tel: 0141 552 6259, www.bilsoneleven.co.uk

Alchemilla

The Finnieston strip’s culinary dominance in Glasgow continues with the exceptional Alchemilla. The latest offering from Fergus McVicar (Chinaski’s/Tabac/Berkeley Suite), the concept is small plates that are big on fresh, bold flavours all expertly constructed in the kitchen by former Yotam Ottolenghi protégé Rosie Healey. The food is nothing short of stunning, even earning a 10/10 from critic Joanna Blythman.

Alchemilla, 1126 Argyle St, Glasgow, G3 8TD, Tel: 0141 337 6060

Chelsea Market

Fans of Boardwise lamented its demise but they can now drown their sorrows with a good glass of wine at Chelsea Market, now open at the former snow, skate and surf shop’s premises. There’s been no expense spared on the interior and, as well as an impressive wine and cocktail list, the modern British menu offers plenty of variety at good value prices. Great for a girls’ lunch or get together with friends.

Chelsea Market, 1146 Argyle St, Glasgow, G3 8TF, Tel: 0141 339 6909,
