Amanda Brown, founder of raw food café Pumpkin Brown in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket, is obsessed with Scottish tap water and Ralph Lauren candles.

Home is…
The New Town with husband, Craig, and my two dogs, Max and Darcey. We have a cobbled street at the front of the house and there’s lots of hustle and bustle. Our back garden is quite a suntrap; we even have a palm tree.

Favourite local shop?
Jeffreys Interiors in Stockbridge. I just sit on the sofa, enjoy the Ralph Lauren candles they always burn, and pretend I live there.

Earliest memory?
Staying over at my granny’s in East Calder. When a storm lashed against the windows we would snuggle under the covers and say “oh, listen to that rain!”

Best restaurants?
Craig and I have eaten a plant-based diet for almost a year now and the Strathearn at Gleneagles is great as they cater for any diet. Their smaller restaurant Deseo has a full vegan menu now too.

Pumpkin Brown’s most popular dish?
Our Dragonfruit Acai bowl. It’s so bright and tastes amazing. We buy in organic dragonfruit pulp, which we blend with bananas and a milk of your choice and top with nuts, seeds, fresh fruit and cacao nibs.

When you’re abroad, what do you miss most about Scotland?
The water! We have the best tap water; so fresh and cold.

Best spot for a dog walk?
I love Cramond or sometimes I’ll take a drive to Gullane. No matter the weather they have sunshine down there.

Where do you see yourself in a year?
Exactly where I am now, still playing house and shopping in this amazing city, drinking water straight from the tap.
