It’s not just fashions that change by the season. Make-up artist Cat Crawford picks three catwalk inspired beauty trends for autumn and explains how to recreate these striking looks and recommends some perfect products to use.

Modern Gothic

Wearing a red black glossy lip is a strong statement but if you prefer a softer look try teaming it with a warm orange eye. Orange is surprisingly flattering, complementing many eye colours, especially blue.

Recreate this look: Use Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry or Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick in Vampette Deep Berry Satin Finish. Mix with an orange eyeshadow such as Shu Uemura pressed eyeshadow in Orange or try MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow in Amberluxe.

Modish retro

A classic combination that never goes out of fashion, bring the look bang up to date with smoky eyes. It shouldn’t be too pristine so emulate a morning-after-the-night-before look, with intense rings of rock chic grunge. The nude lip accentuates the intensity of the eyes while adding a touch of innocence.

Recreate this look: Isa Dora Eye Shadow Palette in Smokey Eyes or Estée Lauder Pure Colour Eyeshadow in Dark Ego. For a perfect nude try Bobbi Brown Lip Colour in Melba Peach, Bourgeois Rouge Lipstick Pretty in Nude or Stila Stay all Day Liquid Lipstick Caramelo.

Sophisticated Dolly

The red matte lip is a modern classic staple but turn up the glamour volume with big lashes. Add lots of mascara to curled lashes to open up your eyes to the max or try falsies for added fun and impact. Use singles or cut full strips into clumps to create a doll like, playful lash line.

Recreate this look: Autograph Matte Velvet Lipstick or MAC’s legendary Ruby Woo. Ardell Demi Wispies and Eylure Individual Lash combination package are foolproof.
