Edinburgh knows how to put on a mighty Hogmanay bash so we’ve picked 10 of the best events in the capital so you can bring in the New Year in style. In no particular order…
The Edinburgh Street Party
Willing to risk a rainy Hogmanay on the street? The Street Party is going to be even bigger this year. You’ll witness an array of fireworks on the hour until midnight, rubbing shoulders with 80,000 revellers and kissing strangers at the bells. Tickets are £25.
Vegas! The Grand Hogmanay Ball 2016
Have a swanky New Year with special guests The Soul Foundation, Missy Malone and The Vegas Burlesque and Cabaret Revue at Vegas! The Grand Hogmanay Ball. It’ll be a night filled with finger swinging martini drinkers, hedonistic playboys and the odd glamour puss. Tickets £25, doors 9pm - 3am at the Voodoo Rooms.
Sergeant NYE special
The four-piece indie rockers, Sergeant will abe taking over Leith Walk's Woodland Creatures for a very special intimate stripped back set. Doors 9pm - 3am, advance tickets from £15.
Wee Dub Hogmanay
Give your NYE a reggae twist with Wee Dub Hogmanay at Studio 24. DJ Vadim, King Yoof, MC Spee and a load more will be your music for the night. Advance tickets art at £10. Doors 10pm until 5am.
Have a chuckle at The Stand Comedy Club. Laugh through the bells at the Hogmanay Hoot with host Jo Caulfield and stand up comedians, Dave Fulton, Keir McAllister, Wayne Madzadza and Liam Withnail. Doors open at 7pm with the show commencing at 9pm, tickets £27.50.
The Edinburgh Hogmanay After Party
The cool kids at The Liquid Rooms are sending 2016 off with a bang with Nightvision at The Edinburgh Hogmanay After Party from 10pm until 5am. Get your super early bird ticket now for £8 or VIP for £22.50.
Ladies on Rotation at Sky Bar Point Hotel
Avoid the elements this New Year’s Eve and spot the fireworks from the rooftop party at the Sky Bar Point Hotel. Ladies on Rotation and Sounds of Soul will be spinning out funk, soul, R’n’B, disco and house for you to bop to. Tickets from £30, doors 6pm until 2am.
Start the New Year in traditional pub venue The Ghillie Dhu at their Hogmanay Hoolie. Dance until 5am with live bands, pipers and DJs. It’s going to be a Scottish blow out and if you’re only after a drink and a dance you only have to pay £20 for a ticket.
Edinburgh Hogmanay Snow Ball Ceilidh
Taking place at The Assembly Rooms, you can enjoy double the fun at the Edinburgh Hogmanay Snow Ball Ceilidh. In one room you can whirl your way around the room to the sounds of an authentic traditional Scottish ceilidh band, then head to next door for a more contemporary ceilidh with the brilliant Calm Doon rock ceilidh band. They'll then kick off a Freak Out! disco at 11pm for a boogie before the bells. Tickets from £44.99.
Dance into 2017 with 1,000 other revellers at The Corn Exchange’s Hogmanay Hoot. expect ceilidh dancing, pipes and drums, and DJ Scott on the decks. Hoot Live is £55 a head and VIP Hoot is £65.
