Spotlight on The Tayberry Restaurant
While in the Ferry, you won’t beat the lunchtime view from the recently opened Tayberry Restaurant. Overlooking the stunning Esplanade, with its rolling sand dunes and Silvery Tay across to Fife, Dundee locals might remember previous incarnations as Frasers and even L’Auberge - and hurray such a gem of a premise is no longer empty.
I’d heard chef Adam Newth took pride in incorporating his local roots from nearby Arbroath into the menus - and my starter didn’t disappoint, a pretty dish that made the star of the show - the flavour of Arbroath Smokie in a delicious broth, topped with perfectly cooked egg.
My main course of pan roasted hake with crab bisque balanced perfectly the various components with a fine touch. With two courses for £18 and three for £22, lunch is great value - and they throw in the view for free.
