Glasgow welcomes the festive season on Thursday 14 November with the switching on of the city’s Christmas lights at George Square. Don’t worry if you weren’t lucky enough to get a ticket, there are plenty other festivities to look forward to.
After kick starting the Christmas cheer, the city centre will come alive on Sunday 17 November with the Style Mile Spectacular. Look out for balloon making elves, Christmas samba bands and a special appearance from Santa. Just in time for the present buying frenzy about to hit the city, the Style Mile has also introduced late night shopping with over 200 stores open until 7pm on weeknights.
Other events include Glasgow on Ice with open air skating running in George Square from 23 November to 05 January 2014. The Square will also play host to funfair rides and free entertainment in the Christmas Marquee including live music and film screenings.
St Andrew’s Day will also be honoured in George Square with a family Ceilidh on Saturday 30 November, while Glasgow Loves Hogmanay bids farewell to 2013 on Tuesday 31 December with plenty of free events from 12pm – 10pm.
