Edinburgh's latest restaurant openings
It's been a bumper year already, but there's more... here's our round-up of Edinburgh's latest restaurant openings.
Legendary chefs Alain Roux and Michel Roux O.B.E. open Prince Brasserie by Alain Roux at The Balmoral on 01 June. Rumour has it the food and interiors are so stunning they might break Instagram. You could be one of the first to see it for yourself as we have 25 spaces at the launch party exclusively for i-on readers.
Down on the waterfront Newhaven was once a bustling port for fishermen selling at the fishmarket. While we’re not proclaiming a new restaurant opening will bring the harbour back to its glory days, The Fishmarket, a collaboration between Gary Welch of Welch Fishmongers and Roy Brett, chef patron of Ondine, and their shared passion for all things seafood, is definitely a great starting point. Newhaven Harbour, 24-25 Pier Place.
Good & Proper
At, i-on we love to keep things local and independent too, and were delighted to spot the newest deli in Stockbridge on a recent ramble along the high street, at 74 Raeburn Place. Inspired by an appreciation for great food and a passion for good old-fashioned hospitality, the salads at Good & Proper (pictured above) are so good they should be sinful. Try the Puy lentils with lemon, aubergine, tomatoes and pickled cucumber if you can, a great takeaway option for sunny days in the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens.
The Little Chartroom
We’re also excited to hear that former Castle Terrace couple, Roberta Hall and Shaun McCarron, are opening their first restaurant mid-June, on Albert Place at the top of Leith Walk. The Little Chartroom will be a neighbourhood bistro serving French British style cuisine.
