We all know the many things we should be doing to keep our bodies healthy (eat well, exercise regularly, you know the drill) but what about our minds? It's easy to forget that our mental wellbeing is just as important as our physical health and if you're not sure where to start, turn to the experts at YourGP.
With Psychotherapy Day coming up on 25 September, we've taken a look at how they can help with a wide range of issues including anxiety, stress and phobias.
Who can help?
YourGP's Clinical Psychologist, Dr Amanda Michie uses a variety of evidence-based approaches including EMDR and cognitive therapy to assess and treat a range of psychological conditions.
What sort of issues can you help with?
Clinical Psychology can be used to address a wide range of problems, including anxiety, stress, depression, anger and hostility, phobias, panic attacks, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), ADHD in adults and eating disorders
Dr Michie will carry out an assessment in a private and totally confidential environment before deciding on the appropriate treatment for you. Usually a course of treatments will be necessary – either weekly or fortnightly, depending on your condition. After an average of six initial sessions, she'll carry out a progress review to help see how far you've come and identify the best next steps.
