Five minutes with... Hatti Pattisson
We grabbed a quick chat with the Scottish artist ahead of her solo exhibition at The Blue Drill Hall this month
Tell us about your latest exhibition...
It’s a mostly abstract collection exploring themes of the sea, light, dreams and the weather. I’ve been working on it since the end of last year and I’m really excited about people coming to see it in my studio gallery in Leith.
What sparked your interest in art?
It was clear I was going to pursue art from an early age. I spent so much of my free time painting as it was a space I could express myself. Inspiration came from painter Anselm Keifer whose work I find breathtaking.
Where did you train?
I did a Foundation at Central Saint Martins in London and a textile degree at Duncan of Jordanstone in Dundee.
Your biggest accomplishment?
Having a career which feeds your soul is very rare so I’m very grateful to follow my passion and be a full time artist.
Where is your hidden gem in Edinburgh?
I love the river walk to the Modern Art Gallery. It’s a great stroll for letting the mind drift.
Hatti Pattisson’s exhibition runs from 12-17 April at The Blue Drill Hall, 32-36 Dalmeny St, EH6 8R. hattipattisson.com
